Cardboard Box Play House.. What Can You Make With Cardboard?

We had this big box from the lawn mower we bought a few months ago sitting in the garage along with a few other boxes so last weekend Kaila and I decided to make a play house with them..

Supplies:

Lots and Lots of duck tape

Boxes of varying sizes

Crazy Glue

and a crazy mother.

Without Further Ado... I present our house...

Below you will see the "mailbox" (aka huggies wipe box) Kaila requested her house MUST have, complete with her mail or football.. whatever.

This would be well let's see, a tunnel, a back door, a side door, a doggie door, if the flap was closed it could double as a tiny tiny bedroom.. Whatever you decide.



The "front door" view.. wow her house really looks messy inside, wonder where she gets that from?

To the left is the "chair" I made, gotta have some furniture..

Kaila's gorgeous decorations.. aka stickers, marker and scrapbook paper, even a shipping label.

Looking inside through the "window" this started as a shelf and was turned into a stove and sink.. like my stove burner artistic skills?

The sink (okay I will explain it to you the white duck taped thing would be the sink (yeah yeah its the cool above counter sink model).. the stick looking thing next to it would be the faucet).. I drew the line when asked to make a toilet.

Apparently my family is total suckers for the 60 second Infomerical.

Kaila says "oh mom I seen that on tv yesterday why did you "buyed" it, You don't want no more hair?"

I start making a gift bag for my mother for Mother's Day.

Kaila says "I hope you are not giving away this" as she holds the hair removal contraption.

The sad part of the story is that I really did buy it for myself because I am a sucker intrigued.

Tonight my mom and I (and Alana and Donni) went to my favorite mexican restaurant.. yes the same one I always go to.. anyway when we were about to leave they sang happy birthday to another table.. Alana was happy and excited for the singing..

They stop and she starts getting upset..

I say "what??"

She says "birthday cake"..

Sigh... one day she will learn that there will not always be cake when she hears the birthday song.

She will not have to be practically dragged out of a restaurant which even that was only possible by allowing her to go to the table that had the birthday song sang to them.. so we could prove to her that there was no birthday cake.. now if they had actually had cake we would have been screwed lol. We are at least thankful that the singing came at the time we were about to leave!

She had icecream before the singing you think her dessert appetite would be supressed no?

Oh and try going to a park, chuckie cheese etc. where there is birthday parties going on and you aren't a part of any of them?? yeah... don't get scared just yet.

In less then 2 weeks is HER birthday... now that will indeed have cake and she will be back to her blissful cake and birthday loving self!

On a side note I got her build a bear today.. and when you push it's paw it sings a version of happy birthday :-D.

How fitting that my 100th post is a Not Me Monday post... no 100 things about me sorry guys I know you are NOT disappointed. Maybe another day...

I did not bake this cake with the girls yesterday for the other halfs birthday only for him to bring home a cake that his kitchen peeps at work got for him... at least mine is home made with love :-P.

I am not going to eat a piece right now and its not even 10am yet..

I did not buy these balloons either..

I did not have to go into work last night, I had not been trying to get it off to go to dinner and I was not one of 5 people that were on call and I did not have to drag myself to work... grumbble grumble... Gosh Darnit..

At least I did not get off fairly early and we still made it to dinner.. where my girls were not very misbehaved.

One day this week Alana did not start singing.. suicidal, suicidal .. which are the lyrics to this song.. Bad mommy of the year award for me!

This was not soon followed by me playing this nice music instead. p.s. they are great songs and you can get a listen to the first bit of each one! Great movement songs.

The other half did not get a new stereo for his birthday to which Alana did not have fun playing with the remnants... The joys of being a kid with a big cardboard box... The photo has been photoshopped... because like I said she DID NOT do this :-P.

We do not have another birthday party to attend today.. do they ever end? This one is not at a jump house. The girls will not have a jumping beany blast..

I do not have to stop writing this so I can go fetch a gift for said party.. and my check..

**Today is the other halfs 30th birthday... man we're getting old (well he is haha I have 4 more yrs until I hit 30.. my dearest apologizes to those over 30 lol). The girls and I just baked a cake using the modifications to boxed cake listed here, I also made cupcakes using it for Valentines day for work. We made up this frosting for it just waiting for it to cool to frost it, I made those bars for valentines day as well and I like that frosting better then the frosting that was listed for the cupcakes. We also used this idea to color sugar to decorate the cake with, its "drying" on some wax paper now! I think I am going to use a straw to nicely place the sugar to write out happy birthday.. we will see how it works! I will share my finished product! If the caregiver gets here before he does Kaila and I are going to the store to get some balloons and a little something for him. He already got his main gift a new home stereo that came in the mail a few days ago! But I like to let Kaila pick out something for him "from the kids".

**Kaila lately has this saying she uses... "oh barnicles". She said she learned it from disney.com? Anywho she says this in place of things like darnit, shoot etc.. Like if I say no you can't do or have something she says "oh barnicles". It really is driving me just a little crazy, I know its appropriate I mean, when you step on barnicles it makes you want to drop the S or F Bombs.. Now if you aren't familiar with them just take my word for it you non rocky beach people.

**Alana the other day we were out grocery shopping, as I was returning some movies to the moviecube Alana says Quieres Yogos?? (you know yogos those yogurt coated thingamiggys) I was like seriously did you just speak spanish to me lol. This coming from a girl with Autism and doesn't even like speaking English.. She is actually quite the parrot and will repeat just about anything she hears. The other half is spanish speaking and he thinks its just so awesome she repeats him and he does it when he talks to his family in Mexico on the phone so they can hear her lol.. This is the first time though that I have heard her use any of it functionally.. Oh and for those who have no idea what Quieres means, it means want.

Me: Kaila what are you doing?

Kaila: Nothing, he's still alive...

Me: Well I hope so, why would you say that?

Kaila: I dont know.

Me: What were you doing?

Kaila: Making him lay down.

Me: Are you sure he was coughing.. and why would you say he's alive, of course he's alive.. what were you doing that might make him not alive.

Kaila: Nothing, I dont know!

AYEAYEAYE Maybe she got this from when he coughs/chokes when eating and I say is he okay if he isnt in my direct line of sight.

Okay Kaila is quite the imaginative girl lately (she rarely makes things up but tonight was a doosey lol). I came home from work today and this was the conversation that ensued:

Me: What did you do while I was at work?

Kaila: Went to the grocery shop.

Me: Really with who?

Kaila: Daddy.

Me: Did Alana and Donni go with you?

Kaila: No.

Me: Well where were they?

Kaila: Home.

Me: Who was here with them?

Kaila: Grandma

Me: Oh she was.

Kaila: Yeah she stayed here with Alana.

Me: Oh so Donni went with you and Daddy?

Kaila: Yes.

Me: What store did you go to?

Kaila: Walmart.

Me: What did you get?

Kaila: A car for daddy's birthday.

Me: Oh cool was it a big car or little car.

Kaila: A little one.

Me: Did Grandma use my computer?

Kaila: No she didnt need to use it.

Me: What did she do while she was here?

Kaila: She ate... macaroni and cheese that she made for her and Alana hahaha!

Me: REALLY?

Kaila: Yep.

Me: (thinking hmm okay this may all have happened as my mom was going to babysit tonight for a bit but we didnt end up needing her. Although Kaila never knew that grandma was coming over. ) Kaila can you get my phone?

Kaila: Where is it?

Me: Over on the other couch.

Me: (calling grandma).. Hey what are you doing?, are you at the bar? (heard loudness)

Grandma: Yes with your sister.

Me: blah blah about work etc tonight. I ask her when she came over.

Grandma: I never came over tonight, Boni never called me... I waited all night.

Me: What? you never came over? Kaila said you came over and watched Alana while she went to the store with daddy and you had macaroni and cheese.

Grandma? What lol? I never came over.

Me: Kaila why did you lie?

Kaila: HAHAHAHA.

Me: Did you go to the store with daddy?

Kaila: Yes!

Me: Well did Alana go with you then?

Kaila: No.

Me: Where was she?

Kaila: Here..

Me: Well who watched her then?

Kaila: No one..

Me: Well she wasn't here alone.

(I repeated the last 4 about 3 times)

Me: Calling daddy (he had left to go to the gym).... Did you go to the store tonight with Kaila?

Daddy: No why?

Me: She said you went to the store and got a car and left Alana home with grandma.

Daddy: What?? Shes crazy lol.

Me: Kaila did you go to the store with daddy?

Kaila? No... HAHAHAHA.


Sighh... when she is a teen I am in for it with her stories already.

I totally bought her story until I called grandma lol.

Then she proceeds to tell me "jokes".

Kaila: Does a Bear go with Macaroni and cheese? NOOOO HAHAHAHA.

Me: Kaila you are so silly.

Kaila: Does a Rabbit go with a bear? HAHAHA.

Me: Bears will eat rabbits..most animals and berries too.

Kaila: Yeah you know Franklin he has a bear.

Kaila: Does a bear go with a bird?

Me: Silent...
Kaila: What does a bird eat oh yeah worms, does a bird go with worms? HAHAHAHA

Does Donni go in a dumpster? NOOOOOOOO HAHAHAHA..

(I have no idea where she comes up with this stuff seriously she had some wild imagination tonight!)

The only way I can rationalize tonight was that she took a nice nap while I was at work.. maybe she dreamt it all? lol.
